Tunisian-Libyan fraternity Day in Tunis

The Maghreb Centre for Research on Libya held on Saturday, November 5 in Ibn Rachiq Cultural centre in Tunis, the Tunisian-Libyan fraternity Day with the participation of a number of historians, diplomats, journalists and civil society activists to commemorate the “Zalaj” events of November 7, 1911, when blood of the Tunisian martyrs was shed in solidarity with their Libyan brothers against the Italian invasion.

Speaking at the event, Researcher and Professor Khaled Abid highlighted the historical background of the Tunisian-Libyan solidarity in the face of colonialism.

In turn, ambassador, Salaheddine Jamali talked about the development of the Tunisian-Libyan relations during half a century.

For his part, Mr. Rasheed Khechana Director of the Center gave an account on the dynamics of economic integration between Tunisia and Libya.

Besides, the participants called for making the November 7 of each year a   Tunisian- Libyan Brotherhood Day.

In another connection, a Tunisian-Libyan symposium was held on October 27-28, 2016 on the theme “the contribution of civil society in good governance and fight against corruption in Tunisia and Libya”, organized by the Maghreb Centre for Research on Libya, with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation.

A group of researchers, judges and diplomats took part in the symposium.
