More Mediterranean flights and new Tunisia hotels

A boost for Tunisia, more Mediterranean flights, a tour operator comeback and a delayed brand launch are in the news on the German market this week.

TUI (the world’s number one tourism business) has boosted Tunisia’s hopes of making a recovery next year.

German visitor numbers to the North African destination are expected to decline to about 120,000 this year from 218,000 in 2015.

The German market leader will offer twice-weekly full-charter flights with Tunisair from Frankfurt and Düsseldorf to Djerba in summer 2017.

TUI did not operate any full-charter flights to the country this summer. In addition, the group will open the adults-only Sensimar Oceana Palace in Tunisia next spring and offer the new Jaz Hotel Tour Khalef. Jaz is a brand of TUI’s Egyptian partner Travco. TUI already operates a Robinson Club, a Sensimar and a Magic Life Club on Djerba.
