French organize two-day Libyan cultural festival ‘‘Min Ajil Libya’’ in Tunis

The French embassies in Libya and Tunisia unite to organize a Libyan cultural festival entitled “For Libya / Min ajil Libya” on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 March. The festival will take place at the French Institute of Tunisia.

The festival will celebrate Libya and its priceless heritage, its unique identity, its rich culture, its artistic creation and its proliferation of civil society initiatives. This joint initiative with the French institutes of Libya and Tunisia ‘‘shows that another Libya is possible’’, organizers report.

Over the two days, rich and diverse events will be organized: Roundtable on heritage and the social sciences, meetings with writers and poets around a literary Café, lectures, an exhibition of paintings, calligraphies and photographs and a contemporary art installation. There will also be an area of Libyan gastronomy, musical interludes, as well as Libyan music (malouf, zoukra, Tuareg and rap) will accompany the festival.

On Friday 10 March, (by invitation only) the two days of cultural festivities will be preceded by half a day dedicated to the Libyan economy.

This event is under the high patronage of Jack Lang, president of the Arab World Institute (IMA) and organizer of the international conference on heritage in danger of Abu Dhabi.

Guest of honour, Jean-Luc Martinez, president-director of the Louvre Museum and author ldlof fifty French proposals to protect the heritage of humanity, who will chair the round table devoted to the ancient heritage of Libya.
