The Tunisian FM visited the Ministry of Social and Agrarian Development this Friday (28) and expressed an interest in social programs. Government’s staff will travel to Tunisia to further discussions on the issue.
The Foreign Minister of Tunisia, Khemaies Jhinaoui, met with the executive secretary of Brazil’s Ministry of Social and Agrarian Development (MDSA), Alberto Beltrame, this Friday in Brasília and expressed an interest in exchanging experiences with Brazil in the social development sector, especially food security, family farming and fight against poverty.
The information was made public by the MDSA. “The Brazilian model of family farming and food security is successful and we are here to find an inspiration for an inclusive social policy. Our visit is to reinforce our interest in exchanging experiences with Brazil,” said Khemaies, according to the website of the Brazilian ministry.
Beltrame presented to the Tunisian FM the Food Purchase Program, through which food produced by Brazilian family farms is purchased for distribution to food-insecure households attended by the country’s social network.
MDSA’s executive secretary said that Brazil has much to share with Tunisia on the issue and can help Tunisians quickly build a model that promotes family farming, taking into account the differences between the two countries. According to Beltrame, a visit to survey the scenario in Tunisia will be done so a process to transfer Brazilian technology in the sector can start.
The Tunisian FM also gave a lecture at Instituto Rio Branco, in which he talked about his country. The Instituto is Brazil’s diplomacy school, responsible for the selection and training of the country’s diplomats.
