A conference was recently held in Cap-Bon to present the main results of the various studies carried out as part of the FACEOIL research project, whose objective was to promote exports of Tunisian olive oil.
The FACE OIL project is part of the FACE programme: “Fund for Academic Cooperation and Exchange between Denmark and Arab World”.
It is the focus of co-operation between the University of Sfax LRM) and the University of Aarhus, Denmark (MAPP Centre). It is run by a Danish team composed of researchers-professors and experts in agri-food marketing (Pr. Klaus.G.Grunert and Pr. Polymeros Chysochou) and a Tunisian team composed by Prof. Imene Trabelsi Trigui Marketing at the Faculty of Economics and Management of Sfax and a group of master students (Imen Kchaw and Mohamed Abdelmoula) and PhD students (Olfa Ammar and Safa Garbout)
The conference brought together olive oil professionals who shared their success stories (Mr. Slim Fendri, Mr. Karim Fitouri and Mr. Meher Ben Ismail) with participants in the conference namely senior executives of Ministries of industry and agriculture as well as researchers and professors specializing in marketing.
The conference provided the occasion to bring together views of the different leaders working in both the public and private sectors. It has resulted in operational and relevant results in relation to packaging issues (co-design, authenticity, label of origin, labeling, packaging size and price, branding, etc…) of Tunisian olive oil exported to three foreign markets: the Danish market, the French market and the American market.
Besides, an extension of the project is planned in order to implement the strategies to be developed during the project.
