Dimensions of the visit of Habib El-Maliki, Speaker of Moroccan House of Representatives to Tunisia

Mr. Habib El-Maliki, Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, started his visit to Tunisia on Wednesday evening, accompanied by an important delegation.

A source at the Moroccan embassy said that the five-day official visit comes at the invitation of Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives of Tunisia Mohamed Ennacer.

El-Maliki will meet with Tunisian President Béji Caid Essebsi, Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and Minister of Foreign Affairs Khemais Jhinaoui.

The visit aims at enriching the parliamentary dialogue between the two sides as well as enhancing the political dialogue in several issues.

The two sides will exchange views and analyzes on issues that concern the internal situation of each country, including democratic reform workshops and the establishment of the human rights system in both countries, and the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), in addition to bilateral cooperation between the two countries within the African Union Organisation and the situation in Libya which undermines the North African countries.

In view of the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting bilateral relations, this visit is viewed with optimism in order to further push forward the relations between the two countries, to win internal challenges through the gate of growth and economic partnerships, security and coordination of positions, especially in negotiations with the European Union.
