Thomas Cook Holidays: Sales boost for Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia this summer

THOMAS Cook has released their new summer destination report which highlights Turkey and Egypt as popular destinations. After resuming flights to Tunisia in February, holiday bookings to the country are also on the rise.

British holidaymakers are returning to popular North Africa and Eastern Mediterranean destinations according to the new Thomas Cook 2018 holiday report.

Both Turkey and Egypt have seen a rise in bookings compared to last summer.

The report stated that package holiday bookings to Turkey are currently up by 84 per cent while Egypt bookings have increased by 89 per cent year-on-year.

According to the report, British travellers are drawn to the keen pricing and quality all-inclusive hotels that Turkey offers.

Bookings for Turkey are majority families taking up 61 per cent of summer bookings. Egypt is also a popular family destination with 51 per cent of bookings coming from families.

Having reopened to British travellers, Thomas Cook announced in February that flights would resume to Tunisia.

The report highlights an increase in bookings to the country.

The closure followed the 2015 Sousse terror attack which killed 38 people, 30 of which were British citizens after a gunman stormed the resort, holiday companies ceased flights and packages to the destination in light of safety fears.

Tunisia is growing in popularity for the family market who currently make up 44 per cent of bookings.

To meet demand, the airline has increased flights from three times a week to 11.

2018 holidays: Egypt
