Tunisia Bridges Forum which was held Thursday in Gammarth focused on the ongoing increasing contribution of Tunisian expatriates to local development.
The gathering was initiated by a partnership between the Observatory of Tunisian Expatriates (French: OTA) and the Maghreb-German Institution for Media and Culture.
It provided the opportunity for expatriates to meet with government representatives and presidents of 30 municipalities.
There is a new approach to Tunisian expatriates’ contribution to regional development, said OTA expert Houcine Baccouche.
Health Minister Imed Hammami said the meeting materialises the kenness of Tunisian expatriates to strengthen their ties with the homeland.
Hammami also underlined the role of local and central decision-making structures, the chambers of commerce and industry, professional bodies, universities and businesses in upholding national development orientations.
The meeting was attended by Tunisian health professionals with their expatriate counterparts to discuss ways to promote Tunisia as a medical tourism destination.
