TUNISIA set to be one of hottest travel destinations among Brits next year ( Thomas Cook).

Following the re-introduction of Tunisia to British holidaymakers at the start of 2018, the travel company has increased the number of flights and hotels throughout the year to meet customer demand, the Sun daily reports in its website.

Next summer, the company is offering 27 hotels across six resorts and 17 weekly flights from the UK, up from 11 this summer, the daily noted.

The Sun indicated that the surge in interest is being driven by the level of hotel that holidaymakers can get for a cheap price, thanks to it being a non-Euro destination.

It added that this time last year, summer 2018 package holidays had only been available to book for a few months, and bookings for next summer are currently up five-fold.

But in August 2017 the advice changed, the government no longer advised against travel to Tunisia, except for parts of the south and interior and certain areas near the borders with Algeria and Libya, and in February of this year, Thomas Cook resumed their flights to the country, the Sun daily went on saying underlining that now, even more, areas have been opened up to tourists,

The daily also said that Médenine in southeastern Tunisia – a town with an old history – featured twice in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, and Tatouine has even more significance for Star Wars fans – it inspired George Lucas’s name for Luke Skywalker’s home planet Tatouine,

But Brits have been flocking back to Tunisia this summer in their droves, with the beaches full of Brits.

The country, alongside Egypt and Turkey, is now drawing holidaymakers away from popular holiday spots in Spain like Benidorm and Ibiza, according to the Sun report.
