Magasin Général company buys Founashop

The Magasin Général (MG) company has acquired, Wednesday, December 19, 2018, the online supermarket Founashop at 80%, the other 20% remain the exclusive property of Karim Skik. This operation remains dependent on the approval of the Trade Ministry.

A major opportunity for Tunisia’s first online supermarket, which will be able to benefit from the advantages of a large brand like MG in terms of market size, a variety of products, know-how and resources. It is also an opportunity for MG to position itself in the online retail sector by taking advantage of Founashop’s experience.

Karim Sekik, the founder of Founashop, told media that this acquisition is “recognition for the brand, especially for the freshness of its products, its know-how and its seriousness”. “It is a first of its kind in Tunisia, that a status-up, created in a garage, be bought by a giant of the sector such as MG”.

If this acquisition will allow the Founashop brand to take off, customers can rest assured: Founashop will keep its identity and will not change teams with this operation. Indeed, Karim, Sonia and Amina Skik, founders of Founashop since 2012, will continue to manage the company which will keep its identity.
