Tabboubi calls on government to assess its policies

Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) Noureddine Tabboubi called Monday on the government to thoroughly consider the country’s debt, public finances, the subsidy system in the energy sector, the feedstock as well as the support provided to employment and continuing training sector and supply of small credits.

Tabboubi also called on the celebration of the 8th anniversary of the Revolution, for accelerating the assessment of the employment policies, trade agreements, the customs regime and that of support for families in need to devise a national policy based on a participatory approach taking into account the different points of view.

The UGTT S-G cautioned against the fall of economic indexes, inflation rate rising and budget deficit, the ongoing depreciation of the Tunisian dinar and the drop of the reserve currency.

Speaking about social negotiations and wage increases, Tabboubi expressed the wish that this issue will be closed with the government and preserve the rights of workers who suffer from a deterioration of purchasing power.
