ABO Wind wins license for 10-MW solar park in Tunisia

Germany’s ABO Wind AG said on Tuesday it has obtained a permit for a project calling for the construction of a 10-MW solar park in Tunisia, Renewablesnow website reports.

The particular photovoltaic (PV) plant will be installed in the governorate of Gabes, with its construction planned to take place next year. The project was secured in a tender for projects in the renewables sector and will operate under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned Societe tunisienne de l’electricite et du gaz (STEG). The fixed-price contract is yet to be signed, ABO Wind said.

Once up and running, the solar park will be able to generate more than 18 million kWh of electricity annually

At the start of 2019, the German renewables developer was awarded a license for a 30-MW solar project as part of Tunisia’s authorisation scheme for renewables. Patrik Fischer, ABO Wind’s general manager responsible for international business development, noted the company is working on six wind and solar projects in Tunisia. “We are making good progress on our way to assemble a portfolio of several ready-to-build wind and solar projects attractive to investors,” he said.
