Water month: awareness campaign on water consumption rationalization for children

On the celebration of World Water Day, which coincides each year on March 22, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries organizes, in coordination with the German Technical Cooperation Agency (GIZ), a series of events from March 14 to 24 in the governorates of Sidi Bouzid and Kairouan so as to involve the stakeholders in water saving process and the urgent need to preserve it.

The water month celebration includes awareness campaigns meant for the different fringes of society, especially children.

These campaigns include telling stories and myths on water, in addition to educational activities and programmes namely drawing, singing and competitions.

Besides, scientific symposiums and press conferences attended by a large number of civil society components, representatives of the German Embassy in Tunis, and the Regional Delegations of Agriculture in Kairouan and Sidi Bouzid are also scheduled.

Last year, the German Technical Cooperation Agency (GIZ) chaired the organization of festive events which was reserved for Kairouan governorate since it has a long history in the mobilization process of water resources saving through reservoirs and dams.

The water rates in Kairouan and the surrounding areas fell by about 3 million cubic meters on the level of the three major dams, such as the Sidi Saad dam, Nabhana dam and Hwareb Dam.
