Saudi Arabia to host 14th Islamic Summit

Saudi Arabia will host the 14th session of the Islamic Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Makkah on May 31, 2019, which will be chaired by the Custodian of the two holy mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The summit, to be attended by leaders members of OIC, will be held under the theme “Makkah Summit: Together for the Future” aims at developing a unified stance on current issues and events in the Islamic world.

Senior officials will convene before the summit and will submit the outcome of their works to the OIC members countries’ Foreign Ministers in Jeddah on May 29, 2019. The Foreign Ministers will present the draft declaration to the OIC summit for adoption.

The Makkah declaration is expected to be issued, in addition to the final statement that will address several current issues in the Islamic world.

The developments of the Palestinian cause will also be discussed during the summit by the Arab and Islamic Leaders in addition to the issue of a single position to the developments in some members countries

Taking clear positions on the recent events of Muslim minorities and the growing hatred against Muslim communities, also known as the phenomenon of Islamophobia, and the need to address terrorism and violent extremism, and other political, economic, cultural and social issues of concern to the Organization will top the agenda of the OIC summit.
