The second round of talks between the dialogue committees of the House of Representatives of Tobruk (HoR) and the High Council of State of Tripoli began on Sunday in Tunis to define draft changes to the Libyan political agreement forged in Skhirat, Morocco, in December 2015.
The initiative takes place as part of the first phase of the action plan for Libya recently defined at th…e United Nations by its special envoy for Libya, Ghassan Salamé, who coordinated the agenda of talks together with representatives of the two committees of dialogue.
The session was dedicated, according to a statement released by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), to the mechanism to select a reduced version of the Council and its prime minister, as well as the responsibilities of the Presidential Council and the government.
”During the talks, a cooperative and positive spirit prevailed”, according to the statement released by UNSMIL, which said that the members of the joint committee stressed the need for quick results and for elections to be held as soon as possible to end the transition and give Libya institutional and political stability.
